Pondering Techology

Advertisement of a brand is important. In today’s technology age, the website is a powerful medium. How many chapter websites have you visited recently that had not been updated in years? How many chapter websites are no longer active? How many chapter websites have “under construction” and nothing on them? Perhaps it’s time for the Technology Committee to consider developing something to assist the chapters who want a website but do not have the resources to develop or host one. It seems to me that with all the technology gurus we have that the committee could come up with some very standard templates for chapters that could easily be updated once mounted on a webserver and have these available for those technologically challenged chapters. And maybe, for a nominal fee, these websites could all be hosted on a web server that was either supported on our own technology or contract outsourced. Hosting space is not very expensive. So, for an annual fee the chapter pays the national organization, they would get web space, a domain name, and a web page template. And.... the chapters could be sent periodic reminders to update their sites.

And while I’m barfing on the Technology Committee, why isn’t there a “site map” on the HQ web site. There's a lot of useful stuff there, you just can't find it without spending half a day looking for it!!

And one other thing since we are talking about websites. Why aren’t the National Fraternity committees and their members listed on the HQ website? Wasn’t there a resolution a few Conclaves back that required that? Oh, I forgot, that’s double secret.
