Most of the students - some of them skilled, others as green as the grass that will soon grow in the yard - are volunteering with Blitz Build as part of ISU homecoming activities. Some Greek teams have also been using their construction skills to build lawn displays in front of their houses near campus.
For the Sigma Phi Epsilon men volunteering in Nevada Thursday, their choice of projects was clear.
'This is something that is useful to others,' said Ryan Clingan, a member of the fraternity. 'There is better stuff money can be spent on than lawn displays.'
Of the 15 fraternities and sororities volunteering in Nevada, Sigma Phi Epsilon would have 20 to 25 men volunteering a few hours each this week, the men said.
