Bethlehem firefighters and Lehigh University police responded to a fire alarm early Sunday to find several men, some naked and covered in paint, walking out of the Kappa Sigma fraternity house and a very drunk 19-year-old freshman inside, officials said.
University police Chief Edward Shupp said police are investigating whether the fraternity or anyone inside broke any of Lehigh's conduct rules and have determined the incident was not a hazing ritual.
Firefighters said one of the men pulled a fire alarm, which also was covered in green paint. Police said they found paint cans and water inside the house at 87 Upper Sayre Park Road.
Police found Brian O'Donnell semi-conscious in the house, Shupp said. O'Donnell, of Belle Harbor, N.Y., was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill because of his high alcohol level. He was cited for underage drinking, Shupp said.
Hospital officials would not comment on O'Donnell's condition.
''We are still investigating this with the Office of Student Conduct to see if there were any violations,'' Shupp said.
