The open-ended question dealing with what the expectations of the scheduled program sessions certainly revealed high expectations and clearly demonstrated that Sig Ep is strong, alive, and well in the Fraternity world. Rather than summarize, our editors felt you should read the direct comments yourselves. These have not been edited (other than for typos and a bit of grammar). If this doesn’t make you feel good about what’s going on in the real world of Sig Ep land, then nothing will. So, dear readers, here are the facts, sans hype:
- I am facilitating. I find it interesting to learn what works well at other chapters and what new tools I can use to motivate and recruit at home.
- I expect to get feedback from undergraduates on how to better serve them.
As an older undergraduate of my chapter I will be at CLA to guide the younger guys of my chapter. The biggest thing I want to learn is probably not in a session, but how our grand chapter really works. - Better ideas for Greek relations events.
- How to better mange property.
- Ways to improve our chapter the same ways other chapters have improved or learn from their mistakes.
- I primarily intend to touch base with brothers and alumnus I haven't seen in awhile. I'd like to serve as an older voice in the undergrad general member sessions and share my experiences of visiting different chapters, the Quest to Greece, and facilitating the past two years at New Member Camps.
- It is really is great to learn about what is important to the undergraduates and volunteers and how we are all working towards providing an exceptional experience for the undergraduates.
- Risk Management Issues. How to be prepared to confront them and also giving the correct response. Ritual as it pertains to our lives as an undergraduate as well as an alumnus. How to get into the ruck Leadership Institute and continue the leadership continuum.
To learn how to be a more efficient officer. - CLA will continue to help with chapter operations. Being with the other chapters of Sig Ep and understanding that the problems one chapter might have are not or could be the same as another chapter.
- Future plans for the fraternity, resident scholar information.
- I expect to learn a couple ideas or operating ideas to help the alumni board. My main reason for attending is helping pass good ideas to other chapters, undergraduates, and alumni.
- Since I am graduating in May 2005 this year, I will be attending the Alumni/Volunteer session. I expect and hope to learn strategies for unifying alumni and volunteers into a strong A&VC Corporation that can serve as a support and benefit to the undergraduate chapter.
- More recruitment events/ideas
- Whatever the most current propaganda is.
- I plan to learn about Alumni relations and how to recruit alums to participate, in Anchorage, we have that problem. Of our 50 alums in the state and I've only seen 10 that I know of and three are professors of mine who don't want to participate. Also, I'd like to take a class in prep for presidency, I am planning to run in the next election.
New ways to build brotherhood. - I expect to learn some strategies to take back to my chapter so that my programs can run more smoothly and efficiently so that they will be events brothers will want to attend.
How to be a better officer. Learn from other Chaplains. Since we are a 2 year old SEC we are still starting out and testing our programs. - Fresh ideas about Alumni involvement and fundraising.
- I expect a reverent discussion of the intricacies of our ritual, how we live them, and how we provide the moral base of our fraternity.
- I open to better understand how to effectively hold my office as an EC member.
- Hopefully something that will help me be more efficient in my position.
These are great expectations. Check our future posts for the results of the responses for the expectations of the non-scheduled networking opportunities. By the way, from the continued feedback that is coming to our editors, we expect the Post-CLA survey will reveal these expectations were met, if not exceeded.
