Just a techie public service announcement
The Sanguine et Purpure has received some private funding (no, not the Educational Foundation) for some research and development on the blog. Thanks to your overwhelming support, your comments public and private, and increasing numbers of visitors. we are beginning a project to upgrade to a more robust software platform and hosting medium. Do not fear, we won't move without leaving a forwarding address or a way for you to easily find us!!!! We are currently evaluating two major server based software packages for bringing you a new and improved Sanguine et Purpure. We want to have a better hosting medium that gives us greater template flexibility so we can use graphics on our template (e.g., add real Greek Letters, the crest, etc.) and host accumulated graphics. We also want to incorporate the capability of en blog downloading of media and other pertinent files. Of paramount importance to us is the ease of ability of our readers to publish comments and to allow for guest posts/editorials/rants/etc.
We will not, in the traditional Sig Ep fashion, give you a specific drop-dead launch date because we know that nothing is ever completed on time and since our technical people actually do have real day jobs, we don't want to make promises we can't keep.
So what's the bottom line? We just wanted to warn you that if you suddenly come to visit the blog and find it has taken on an unusual appearance, it should only be a transient phase in our technology relocation. We will try to do this in off-peak times, but off-peak for us might be your scheduled time to visit the S&P. So, if it looks "funny" it is only the man behind the curtain putzing around in moving some files and things should return to normal in a few minutes. Again, never fear, we will not go quietly into the night without leaving a trail of bread crumbs for you to follow.
If you haven't bookmarked our URL (http://redandpurple.blogspot.com) and have to keep typing it in all the time, you may want to shorten that and use what our future URL will be, which currently is redirected to the blog (http://sigepblog.com ).
Thanks again for all your support ... and tell your undergrad brothers and alumni to check us out.
Fraternally,
S&P Editorial and Technical Staffs
