Rock to raise awareness
Three Grand Valley State University student groups are seeking to raise awareness of sexual assault through nontraditional and creative means. Eyes Wide Open, Sigma Kappa sorority and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity will host Rock Against Rape, a fund-raising event from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Cook Carillon Tower on GVSU's Allendale campus. Local bands Happy Hour, Columbus Sharp, Go Mordecai and After School Special will perform. The event is free, and organizers will accept donations for local women's organizations. The event also will feature games, an art battle and information about sexual assault and women's safety issues.
