A frat dream comes true

Ashley Judd Shows up. An entire chapter is gobsmacked.

Ashley Judd is in the house
Brian Drapp, left, and John Smith are among the frat brothers pleased by a visit from Ashley Judd at the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon were silent, not grasping what they'd heard: "We've brought Ashley Judd here."

"Hi, lads," the actress said, strolling into their house at the University of Kentucky yesterday afternoon in a strapless dress and slingback heels.

Cheers. Applause. Laughter.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" she asked.

Silence again, their answer returned with wide eyes and frozen lips: Whatever you want to talk about, Ashley.

She wanted to talk about AIDS. Poverty. Sexually transmitted diseases. Abstinence. Condoms. Girlfriends. Women's studies classes. Victories for health, awareness and philanthropy.

She'd come to the house as part of the mtvU series Stand In, on which a celebrity surprises students for the music network's university channel. The men ran a basketball tournament this week to benefit YouthAIDS, an HIV-AIDS awareness organization Judd works with.

As a thank-you, she clued them in on global health problems and offered some womanly advice on how to approach girlfriends about STD tests.

If she walked into my house with that dress on I would have exactly the same reaction.
