Oregon State Daily Barometer Online - Greek community honors its own

Oregon State has a great Greek system, and Sig Ep (OR Alpha) is at the top of the heap.
Friday evening marked OSU's second Greek Awards Banquet, held at the OSU Alumni Center. The banquet, presented by the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, recognized members of the Greek community for their contributions both to Corvallis and to the Greek system.

Kappa Alpha Theta was awarded the Vanderpool Cup, which is given to the sorority that most encompasses the ideals of Greek leadership, scholarship and community. Sigma Phi Epsilon was awarded the fraternity equivalent, the Brennan Cup.

Keynote speaker Dr. Tomas G. Goodale, executive director for Sigma Alpha Epsilon international fraternity, had only good things to say about OSU's Greek community, which was recently recognized with a regional award for setting a precedent for Greek communities around the nation.

"You are merely on one stop on this journey," Goodale said to an audience composed of Greek undergraduates, alumni and advisers and OSU administration. "You will be called upon time and again to give back [to society]."
