This editorial goodbye is from Eric Barton in the Sam Houston State student paper "The Houstonian"
Wow. I never thought I'd be writing one of these "goodbye" editorials. Then again, I never thought I would work for The Houstonian.
I never like to write; in fact, I only applied to Sam Houston because it didn't require me to write an essay on the application. One year into my Finance degree I realized I didn't want to be stuck in a cubicle the rest of my life, and was asked to write an editorial for this very page you're reading now.
Three years later and through holding many positions on staff, I finally became Editor in Chief. It's really weird how things work out.
I am so thankful for my time here at The Houstonian. I've learned so much by actually being able to apply what I learned in the classrooms, and that is what makes this newspaper great.

This list goes on forever, but it's my last editorial, so deal with it. I also have to thank all my wonderful fraternity brothers at Sigma Phi Epsilon. Thanks for always being there for me and showing what it takes to become a Balanced Man.

A few more shout outs: To Reloaded, thanks for the competition and the discussions; to all the "bloggers" on the SHSU message board, I enjoy reading your posts and the "Eric Barton . . . have you no shame" thread. All the past editors: Matt, Daphne, and Drew Lacy, thanks for all the advice and teaching me all that I know.
Now, if you are still reading I have to thank you. You are the reason a newspaper is even made. Thanks for reading and putting up with all of our crap here at The Houstonian.
Kinda makes me wonder what I missed by not seeing his column.
