Dougherty
[...]During the spring term of his freshman year he joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, a chapter which had spent years pushing for charter recognition. Dougherty assumed a considerable role in assisting this chapter attain the desired recognition. Stephen Rupprecht, Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life supported this in saying that "John really took the reigns and helped the men get back on track and [move] toward the ultimate goal." Jared Krieger has taken over as President, as Dougherty is graduating. Krieger admires Dougherty for his influential leadership and ability to accomplish what he sets out to do, which is always for the "betterment of Sigma Phi Epsilon, [the University], and the surrounding community."
As President of SigEp, Dougherty, was on the board of the Inter Fraternity Council (IFC) by default, however he took this to the next level by becoming President, a position which he held for two consecutive years.[...] Bryan Keller, current IFC President pointed out "the ability for John to establish great relationships with Drexel Administration, namely Senior Vice President Anthony Caneris, as well as with his counterparts on the IFC and USGA [and how that] speaks volumes about John's level of professionalism and his ability to maintain the necessary rapport with his peers." Dougherty persistence towards the appropriate direction for the University has successfully closed the gap between the "fraternity and sorority leaders and the University's administration," James Katsaounis, director of communications for Student Life and Administrative Services, noted. He continued, "We have seen the Greek community grow at Drexel in academics and leadership these past two years, something that John and the entire Greek community should be proud of."
