Conclave Legislation Sample

We hear much about Conclave and how it is the legislative body of the Fraternity. Here is what the HQ Conclave pages say:

What is legislation?   With the convening of the Grand Chapter comes the vital task of determining the future of the organization. At the legislative sessions, undergraduate delegates from each chapter create, debate, and enact legislation for the Grand Chapter. The Grand Chapter consists of the undergraduate chapter delegates, the District Governors, and the National Directors.

Only delegates can present legislation, but anyone can draw up a resolution and ask his delgate to place it into consideration. Once it is in the queue it will be sent to a committee and then passed on for a full vote. (It's a little more complicated than that, but that's a "normal" progression.)

What are the committees and what do they do?   All of the work of the Grand Chapter is done via committee.   Each committee handles a respective area of Fraternity operations.

However, it is very interesting that there are no samples of legislative resolutions for delegates to use as a guide to forming their own resolutions. hmmm... I wonder if we can do something about that.

Of course we can. This file (Sound Spirit Resolution.doc) is a sample resolution you can use to prepare legislation to be considered by Conclave. Use it well and be sure your delegate has plenty to do in Nashville.
