A Sig Ep Giant Has Passed

Robert Mack Johnson (Elon '76) past District Governor and long time volunteer with the Washington & Lee Chapter in Virginia recently passed away and a memorial service was held in his honor yesterday. Approximately 600 people, including his wife Jane, sons Mack and Zack, and Sig Ep staff were in attendance.

Bob was a Marine, a Mason, a Jeweler, a lacrosse coach, a dedicated father and husband, a church leader, and a dedicated Sig Ep volunteer. Bob was opinionated and fiercely committed to his ideals and the ideals of the fraternity. Bob was also very demanding of those with whom he worked. However, Bob was also tough on himself, and he would never ask someone to do anything that he would not do himself. Whether you agreed with him or not, there was no hidden agenda with Brother Johnson. He let you know exactly how he felt.

Bob was a prototype of the grassroots volunteer that we need so badly.

Brother Johnson, rest in peace. We are better men and a better fraternity because of you.
