Ward, 21, was charged with buying a 20-pack of beer for a minor, 20-year-old classmate Margaret Calvert, on April 21.
Ward, who is entering his senior year at the University of New Hampshire, plans to divide his community service between two projects.
One is "Operation: Impact," which he described as a group of UNH fraternity and sorority members who would perform various community service projects such as assisting the elderly and assisting with local community events.
The other is an alcohol education program, serving college and high school students, done in conjunction with Oyster River Community for Healthy Youth.
Ward said the incident left him a changed person, and described the attention the incident received from local and state media outlets as "eye opening."
He said he intends to learn from the experience. He looks forward to serving a second term in the state Legislature, returning to the student senate in a leadership role, and enrolling in law school upon graduation next year.
He is a member and former president of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and former UNH Greek Council vice president.
