(from a communication sent out this morning by Craig Templeton):
Past Grand President Dr. James F. Robeson passed away at 6:00 a.m. today. He was 69. His sons Chris and Brad were with him as he passed.
Bud said the family gathered and shed tears this morning, but thought their tears were mostly for themselves as Jim's condition had deteriorated so sharply that, "he is now in a much better place."
The family is planning a private family ceremony to be followed with a celebration of Jim's life--likely either this Friday or Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.
Jim loved his Fraternity very deeply. His wife Teddi said that the Alumni Awards Banquet in Nashville was a crowning moment in his life for both of them. He was widely known and loved among the interfraternal community as he was a great and involved neighbor to the national headquarters of the fraternities and sororities based in Oxford. SigEp suffers a great sense of loss today and our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's family.
UPDATE:
Jim's body will be cremated this week with remains split between burial in the Miami University cemetery and being spread over the North Carolina Outer Banks where he vacationed and fished with family. There will be a private family service Saturday morning in Oxford, followed by a private family lunch and then an open Celebration of Jim's Life at 1:30 p.m. in the Shriver University Center on the Miami campus in Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the SigEp Educational Foundation or the James F. Robeson Faculty Fellow Fund at Miami University.
