Reporting from HQ

This very upbeat report came to us 'over the transom'. Things are looking good, eh?

TO: National Directors, District Governors, Committees
CC: Headquarters Staff

Friday came to be an exceptional day for Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Director of Recruitment, Greg Barra, outlined an ambitious goal for the fraternity to have 1,356 new members recruited and registered by Sept. 30. After a Herculean effort on the part of the Regional Directors and Donna Jarvis, Membership Coordinator, we report the fraternity was up in September by 103 new members finishing the month at 1,459. This continues to put us on track for achieving our target goal of 6,218 new members in 2005-2006.

October is of even greater importance for the fraternity. The total goal for October is 3,140 new members. We have 1,681 new members to go. This effort will require staff and volunteers to work with our chapters on effective recruitment programs as well the prompt completion of the membership registration process. This can be done online at www.sigep.org/registration. I encourage you to reach out to your chapter(s) and discuss the importance of recruitment (quantity and quality). We're out to destroy the frat boy stereotype and if we're not the lead dog on each of our campuses, we can't take them on. Recruitment provides us the resources we need to do just that!

I would be remiss if I didn't include an update on SigEp's newest chapters. Our expansion team just left Pullman, Washington, starting our Washington State chapter and doing so in good fashion with 40 new members. Even more incredible, our team is on the ground at Elon University where they report 30 new members recruited in the first week (the team is usually on the ground for 4-5 weeks). This week, our expansion efforts commence at MIT.

Fraternity operations are off to a strong start and EDGE programming is unfolding across the country. Up this week, Durham, North Carolina. See you at an EDGE or CLA near you in the near future.

Thank you for your contribution to SigEp!

Fraternally,
Chris
