Bro. Jim Clayton gets back to his roots

Looks like Bro. Clayton is getting back to his Roots as a music impresario...
The day after Thanksgiving, Logan Murrell strapped on her mandolin and was ready to sing for the Blue Plate Special crowd at the WDVX studio on Gay Street.

She turned to the guitar player seated at her left and said “Hit it!”

Nothing happened.

Perplexed, she said “When I say ‘Hit it’ something’s supposed to happen.”

Jim Clayton chuckled, and they started over again – they’ve only been playing together for three weeks, and he knows there are going to be some glitches to work out.

She’s been taking guitar and mandolin lessons from Roscoe Morgan, and this fall she spent her Saturday mornings on Market Square, singing for shoppers at the Farmers’ Market. It was about that time that billionaire entrepreneur Jim Clayton, who worked his way through college picking and singing country music, heard about her.

“People started calling me and telling me about this great little person, so I went on her Web site and read about her. It’s been my great pleasure to get to know her.”

Already, Clayton has hired Logan to sing at several business functions, and he flew her to West Tennessee where he has a branch bank. Logan has opened a savings account with the money he has paid her.

“I put the money in Jim’s bank,” Logan said. “And I flew on Jim’s private jet.”

Well Jim, you say Dolly Parton got started this way?

By the way, did I mention that Logan is 9 years old?
