Winston-Salem restaurant is run by a man with a plan.
Chris Fulk, dressed in kitchen whites, walks through a massive two-story colonial house on a balmy Saturday night, looking for another drink of sweet tea.

He steps into the bar, grabs a refill and returns to the kitchen where he'll hover over a 10-burner stove, casually tossing pans of sauteed vegetables and pumpkin risotto for the night's lamb special. It's just another night in his home away from home on Brookstown Avenue: Christopher's New Global Cuisine.

It's slower than usual on this particular Saturday night. Lauren Hutchens, the restaurant's general manager, tosses a wadded piece of paper at Fulk as he stalks to the bar for yet another plastic cup of sweet iced tea. He rolls his eyes and grins.
The bartender recounts a story of how one of the waiters dressed up as Fulk for their Halloween Vampire Ball. The young man had donned the typical Fulk uniform: chef jacket, shorts, a baseball cap, a dish towel to wring, a red and blue Sigma Phi Epsilon tattoo on his left calf and a padded butt.
"We almost died laughing," she said. "He had it down."
Really, this is an inspiring story of a man who would not give up on his dream. And if you live in the area, look him up and check out the place.
