Gambling, like drinking, is best done in moderation and one must know his limits.
Greg Hogan’s addiction to gambling and about $5,000 in gambling debt led the Class of 2008 president to rob a Wachovia Bank, his lawyer said Tuesday.
Hogan started accumulating the debt a little more than a year ago when he began gambling heavily at online poker sites as a way to relieve the stress of his busy life, his lawyer said. In addition to being president of his class, Hogan was an accomplished cellist in Lehigh’s orchestra, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, a chaplain’s assistant and a double major in finance and political science.
“The question is why, because he had a gambling problem, did he go and rob a bank?” Waldron [Hogan's Lawyer] said.
Addiction to gambling can be just as destructive as a drug or alcohol addiction. Treatment is similar also.
