Fraternity ousted at UNH

(Not sure why this just showed up now, since the ouster was Dec. 7.)

Well, when it is fourth and long, you just have to punt. The Sig Ep Chapter at UNH has been closed.

National headquarters felt that the fraternity's behavior was "too risky to allow them to continue." Pappajohn could only elaborate by saying that it had to do with issues dealing with their chapter operations, financial obligations and administrative duties.
[...]
But a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon with direct knowledge of the proceedings, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the UNH chapter owed nationals upwards of $30,000, and that the fraternity's annual cumulative GPA was below the North American Interfraternity Conference's standard of at least a 2.5. According to the source there was also "an alleged incident that occurred in the house."

But, the source said, "Those who know the details surrounding the alleged incident know that the allegations are not true. It's unfortunate that nationals didn't look further into the details of the matter."

Translation: "No animals were permanently harmed, the individual has been assured he will regain the use of his left eye, and the fire department was very efficient. So, what's the problem?
