Odd Couplings

It's almost spring. That means the saps will soon start running. Univ of Florida students are gearing up for the SGA version of March Madness
"Last weekend also saw Student Sen. Jared Hernandez announce his candidacy for the SG presidency. Hernandez, a law student, will run with the new Unite Party. The party features many of the same leaders as last year's Impact Party, which was largely viewed as the non-Greek alternative.
Interestingly, Hernandez is an alumnus of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, a former Interfraternity Council president and a member of Florida Blue Key. It is somewhat peculiar that he would run with the remnants of Impact while John Boyles sits atop his presumptive Greek backing. "

Interestingly there is a slate of all athletes considering a go at it.

The party was registered by UF tennis player and Florida Blue Key member Ryan Sherry, who was quoted saying, "We're going to win. We're the athletes. People are going to vote for us."

While Sherry's presumptuousness is astounding, it also makes it clear that he would fit right in with the SG regulars.

This sounds like way more fun than looking for hanging chads. The Independent Florida Alligator
