Instapundit is looking at the "Broken Window" approach to Porkbusting.
I wonder if such an approach might work for some of the seemingly intractable problems Sig Ep faces with chapters that just seem to go from bad to worse until they are closed? Could we perhaps apply some earlier remedy that will have the effect of stopping deterioration before it gets out of hand? Chapter problems may indeed be on the order of "broken windows" that can be quickly addressed. But if they are ignored they will only get worse.
It would probably require that we have more and better trained volunteers, to begin with. We also might want to consider granting District Governors some actual authority over the chapters they "supervise" so that they could actually "take steps" when a chapter begins to show symptoms of internal problems.
