Will Demeranville, a former SGA Senator and Phi Delta Theta fraternity president, died Saturday after an accident at the fraternity's house early Friday morning. |
UA spokeswoman Cathy Andreen said Demeranville was transported via ambulance to DCH at 3:15 a.m. Friday after suffering a fall at the Phi Delt house. No hint of 'misadventure'. Apparently he just slipped and fell. Sad. Tragic. Life is fleeting.
Phi Delt Treasurer Patrick Boles said Demeranville fell down the stairs.
Boles, who played football with Demeranville at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, said Demeranville was a good friend and one of the main reasons he joined the fraternity.
"As a fraternity, we lost a lot in Will's death," Boles said. "We lost a great friend, a tremendous leader and president, and someone who always pushed everyone to succeed."
He said Demeranville was a role model to many. On the behalf of the fraternity, Boles expressed gratitude for the support members have received from the UA community after Demeranville's death.
"Many of us in the fraternity have known Will, particularly our junior class, before we ever arrived to college, and dealing with his death is going to be a long, hard process," Boles said.
