You may have noticed in the last 24 hours or so that the sidebar has been, well, inconsistant. Various items have been randomly appearing and disappearing for no obvious reason. (What? You mean you don't hang on every flicker of S&P? I'm shocked!)
You can thank the wonderful folks at Blogger central for much of that, but I certainly played my part. I was modifying the template that forms the page and when I hit "Save" somehow about half of the sidebar went "away". There was no counter, no archives, no blogroll of chapters. I didn't notice it right away and republished the crippled code. Then I left and attended to the reality I call "life".
When I checked back in and saw the problem I had a small panic attack because, like all good geeks who are very comfortable with code, I had no backup! (Even more embarrassing because my day job involves change management and version control. heh.)
Fortunately A was able to cobble together a combination of very old template files and some of Google's cached S&P pages and get everything back. So there we are. The only real casualty is the counter, which lost most of the overnight hits.
Anyway, enough about me for a Sunday morning. We now return to normal programming. Oh - yes I DO have a template backup now!
