April 5, 2006 Dear Brother: Today, I am excited, I am proud, and I am optimistic. I am excited because we are approaching a milestone in fraternity membership that we have not reached in 10 years. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of your chapters throughout this year, we are within striking distance of recruiting more than 6,000 men this year. That's really something to shout about.
I am so proud because we have gone about this recruitment increase the right way. We are maintaining high standards and working hard to find the best men on campus. This is not rush, but recruitment, and we pursue balanced men throughout the year by promoting Sound Mind and Sound Body in our chapters.
My optimism comes from my confidence in you as undergraduate recruiters and volunteer mentors. We have some work ahead of us if we are going to reach our goals and continue to lead the fraternity world. I understand that there are 100 chapters out there still recruiting, embracing year-round recruitment, and thus bettering their chapters. I encourage those of you still recruiting to continue to do so. The rest of you are likely preparing for summer and fall recruitment at this time, and that is just as important, for chance favors the prepared mind and chapter.
So go and continue the good work of the Fraternity. Whether you are part of our great wave of spring recruitment or if you are preparing for next year, your present efforts will pay you and your chapter dividends in years to come.
Your National Board of Directors and I are behind you and your efforts 100%. Please feel free to contact Greg Barra, greg.barra@sigep.net , at Zollinger House for additional resources.
Fraternally, Archer L. Yeatts, III Grand President
