The fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon has been put on probation for being found with underage drinkers at a party, said Carrollton senior David Kolinofsky, president of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.Alcohol is a problem eh? That startling revelation should win you a Pulitzer Prize.
“It’s just a tough situation, but I really can’t have any comment,” Kolinofsky said.

“Alcohol issues are a common problem on every college campus,” said Bonita Jacobs, vice president for student development. Jacobs said college-age students, regardless of whether they are enrolled in college or not, are at higher risk for having drinking problems, including engaging in binge drinking on a regular basis. “We have traditionally made light of [drinking], but it’s not funny. It’s something we take seriously,” Jacobs said.
Jacobs said fraternities have suffered from being stereotyped as being excessive drinkers, but college students in all groups fight with the same problem.
“It does not diminish the fact that we have a problem with binge drinking,” she said.
