Jason “Chops” Nejman performs an original composition at Alpha Phi’s Star Search Friday.
Abby Retseck, a social studies education major and vice president of marketing for Alpha Phi, said the program raised approximately $600 for the Alpha Phi foundation.

"I'm very excited," Retseck said. "It gets better every year."

Twelve contestants participated in the event.

Jason "Chops" Nejman, a senior physical education major and member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, took first place and won $70 worth of prizes. Nejman performed an original composition titled "Wanting More of You." Although Nejman won many prizes, he said he will not keep them.

"I want to give the prizes away to people who really need them," Nejman said. Nejman also performed last year and took first place. Nejman said he won a night's stay at a hotel room and gave it away to a family friend.
Way to Go "Chops".
