Sigma Phi Epsilon and Alpha Gamma Delta held a softball tournament on Saturday to raise money for the YouthAIDS organization.Sounds like a great way to spend a spring Saturday.
Approximately 10 to 12 teams consisting of Greek members, campus organizations and academic societies gathered on Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at Saucon Softball Fields. The event turned out to be a great success, Samantha Murphy, ‘08, said.
“It really was a great time," she said. "There were three fields going on, and if you weren’t busy playing there was a barbeque, bagels and a soda machine. And Sig Ep brought speakers so there was good music playing the whole time.”
The there was an anticipated total donation amount of $3,000, Murphy said. Each team, consisting of 10 people, payed $300 to participate.

“This year was pretty much a start-up, so we weren’t focusing on raising the money," Jason Zeller, '05, said. "We wanted to see how it went since this was our first time, and we would like to make it a national event. Our national philanthropy is YouthAIDS, and one of our other chapters had done this same softball game and it was very successful. So we decided to try it and it was a huge success here, as well.”
