Sigma Phi Epsilon's appeal to lift their suspension and subsequent probation was denied by the campus appeals board last week.The Sig Eps could not be contacted. Presumably they were out drowning their sorrows.
Debbie Anderson, chair of the board and residential life manager of Earhart Residence Hall, said the decision made by the Office of the Dean of Students was upheld following the appeals process Mar. 29.
"The decision was made by the board, which consists of two staff members, two faculty members, three undergraduate students and one graduate student," she said.
The fraternity was suspended for a year following hazing violations that occurred on Nov. 15, including alcohol being served to minors and the hospitalization of one student due to excessive consumption of alcohol.
