CEDAR CITY - The Southern Utah University fraternity Sigma Nu was suspended Tuesday following frequent neighborhood complaints and a stabbing that occurred Sunday morning.
Sigma Nu, which has a house located at 257 Dewey Ave., has been on probation since the beginning of spring semester, said Del Beatty, SUU's director of student involvement.
The group was placed on probation after failing to meet the required grade-point average of 2.5 for the last three semesters - excluding summer. The combined GPA of the fraternity has been 2.17, 2.18 and 1.90. The combination of being on probation and neighborhood complaints most likely caused the temporary suspension, Beatty said, but the order came from the Sigma Nu national headquarters.
