Drive-by shooter seriously injures UA student
University of Arizona Police and members of Greek Life on the UA campus are remaining tight-lipped about a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning.
It happened on First Street near Campbell Avenue just outside the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity house.
Police say an 18-year-old female freshman was hit in the stomach when several shots were fired from a passing car.
The girl had recently been accepted into a sorority on campus, but UA officials don't feel she was in any way a target.
"All signs really do point to this being a random act. one that's rarely seen here on campus," says Johnny Cruz from the University of Arizona.
A letter sent to students at one campus sorority warned them to be safe and not to talk to the media about any details in this case.
