Foundation Board of Governors Say Thank You to Chuck White

Thanks to Bro. Don Heard for this article

Foundation supporters, local alumni, HQ staff, Grand Chapter Board of Directors, and Foundation Trustees gathered in Richmond this last weekend to honor Brother Charles "Chuck" N White, Jr., Western Michigan 62. Brother White retired on December 31, 2005 after forty years of service to Sigma Phi Epsilon. Most recently he served as President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation after serving as the Fraternity's Executive Director. There was an excellent writeup in the Summer 2006 "SigEp Journal"

The weekend started with with an update of the Fraternity's last year and what is coming ahead. On Saturday, there was sightseeing available in historic Colonial Williamsburg and golfing at a nearby course. But the weekend was all about Chuck. The dinner program featured some of Chuck's closest SigEp Brothers and friends thanking him for what he did that was special to them. The Zollinger's were there along with Brother's from Western Michigan and those that served on HQ staff with Chuck when he was a Regional Director, Chapter Services Director, etc. Brother Grand President Archie Yeatts and many others spoke of what a great brother, friend, and servant leader Brother White has been over the years.

The evening was capped off with a few gifts (and a few more kind words) for Chuck.

The entire room serenaded Mrs. Susan White in the "Wonderful SigEp Girl" while she was presented with beautiful red roses led by Brother Mike Ellis, a longtime member of the Conclave Chorus.

Chuck was presented a beautiful carbine rifle to go with his new job in "law enforcement". Brother William Schreyer contributed $25,000 to the Charles N White, Jr. Endowment in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation in honor of Chuck's service to the Fraternity and their strong friendship.

Then an honor that left no dry eye in the house. The Alumni & Volunteer Corporation of Michigan Beta (Western Michigan University), the UG chapter, and the NBD had approved the naming of the chapter house the Charles N White, Jr. House "the White House". A framed photo of the plaque to be placed on the chapter house was presented to Chuck.

This was part of a great weekend with fellow SigEp alumni and good friends from around the country.
