Pomona ready for cleanup

SigEps at Cal Poly - Pomona have organized other Greeks to pitch in for a citywide cleanup day this saturday.

Among the participants will be a contingent of Cal Poly Pomona students who are participating in the cleanup as part of a Greek Week project.

Greek Week offers campus fraternities and sororities a chance to take part in philanthropic activities while also taking part in friendly competition.

Seena Mojahedi, 21, a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Cal Poly Pomona, initially got involved to fulfill a community service project for his fraternity, but as he became more involved it all took greater meaning.

At first "I was trying to just get by," he said. "Then I saw this is something that does need attention."

Mojahedi said he took the idea to the rest of the fraternities and sororities on campus, and many of them are expected to take part in the cleanup.

Mojahedi will be working Saturday with various groups to do some work along Indian Hill Boulevard.
It's not just the students either. The Cleanup will involve over 2000 citizens in a city beautification project.
