Today, June 16, is "Bloomsday", a celebration of the single day of June 16, 1904 in the city of Dublin, Ireland that is chronicled in James Joyce's "Ulysses" - one of "the greatest books no one ever reads". In Ireland, and indeed with Joyce fans all over the world, June 16 is celebrated as a holiday.

Some place or aspect of Dublin is mentioned on almost every page of the book, and though Joyce seemed to have difficulty with the reality of living in Ireland, He celebrated it in his literature. Today millions around the world return the favor. Though they may have trouble with the reality of his writing, they celebrate the idea of it.
