Farrell Accepts Position As Floral Park Village Administrator/Treasurer

At the beginning of the last New Hyde Park Village Board meeting Mayor Daniel Petruccio announced that he had received the resignation of village clerk/treasurer Patrick Farrell, who has accepted a position with the Village of Floral Park.  |

Mayor Petruccio thanked Farrell for his service and described him as, “been known to have a plunger in his hand one minute, pliers or a screwdriver another minute and then budget sheets at another time.”
The Village is now looking for someone to fill the “big shoes” of Farrell.
Patrick Farrell, a native of New Hyde Park, who will be sorely missed by all in New Hyde Park started his business career 25 years ago with Merrill Lynch and then joined UBS/Paine Webber managing over $40 million of client assets as a Financial Planner. In 2003, Farrell was appointed Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of New Hyde Park (his beloved childhood village). He received a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from SUNY Fredonia. It was at Fredonia where Patrick continued to pursue his love for music by studying Sound Recording Technology and Music Theory through his elective classes at the Fredonia School of Music.
Farrell is also president of the Long Island Village Clerks & Treasurers Association and is a Registered Municipal Clerk and newly elected board member with the State of New York State Association of City and Village Clerks and a Certified Municipal Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. To become certified it was required that Farrell attend three years of class participation at Cornell University. Recently, it was announced that he was appointed to the Advisory Committee of the Cornell University Program.
Further, Farrell is a Past Distinguished President and active member of the Kiwanis Club of New Hyde Park, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Knights of Columbus, Nassau County Big Brothers and Notre Dame Parish.
In his resignation letter to Mayor Petruccio, Farrell said, “It has been a pleasure serving you and the board for the past seven years as Clerk/Treasurer. I appreciated all the support you and the board have given me in serving the residents of New Hyde Park. This would not have been possible without the hard work and support of a fine village hall staff, department of public works team, zoning and architectural board members and all the dedicated village volunteers. I will miss working with them on a daily basis. I will always be available to help with a smooth transition.”
Farrell and his wife Kay reside in Garden City Park and are the proud parents of two children, Patrick “PJ” (9) and Sara (7).
