It has been just a little over a month ago that the Sanguine et Purpure made its "blog" debut as an experiment. Several independent minded brothers got together to see if they could use the technology of the day to improve communication within the brotherhood. We started without the permission, or indeed even the knowledge, of the Headquarters staff. Our spies tell us that they soon found it and we have rapidly become 'must read' material in Zollinger House. Heck, somebody has to keep them up to speed.
Once our founders got the hang of blogging, it has taken off. While we have gotten a few comments on individual posts (come on guys, I know you have an opinion) we have in the past 2 weeks had over 1000 visits to the site and over 2000 "page views". Not too bad for 'the new kid on the blog'. Many thanks to those who have e-mailed us directly with suggestions or private comments. We read them all.
We hope the Op-Eds give you food for thought, whether you agree with us or not. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of you for perusing our blog. This also serves as an open call for suggestions for Op-Ed topics. Don't be shy. If you want to comment on a post feel free. Send an email to the Oracle or Wordjunky if you have a topic you would like to see explored. If you would like to write an item yourself, our editorial board would be proud to have the opportunity to review and possibly publish it. Rest assured we will certainly maintain confidentiality and anonymity if you request it. We would especially like to thank the HQ staff for their diligence in reading the blog - keep looking, boys, there's a lot more to come.
We try to scan most college newspapers just to see what you undergrads are accomplishing and publish it for all to see. If we missed something you've done that you feel is noteworthy, let us know. We would love to give you a Kudos on the Sanguine et Purpure. Fair warning, it cuts both ways. When you act like "frat boyz'" we''ll be sure to let everyone know that as well.
Again, the editorial staff, administrative staff, our researchers, and technical support staff thank you for your support and interest. We hope you've read something that made you proud to be a Sig Ep, read something that provided news and information, and more importantly, read something that made you think outside the box.
Our staff here at the Sanguine et Purpure have adopted the philosophy of Sir James Barrie (sorry, he wasn't a Greek philosopher) who said, "As soon as you can say what you think and not what some other person has thought for you, you are on your way to being a remarkable man."
Brothers, keep reading and keep thinking free.
