UTM to tear down ‘Wall’ of hate

(Updates an earlier post)
Sunday afternoon, SGA, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Sigma Phi Epsilon sponsored the construction of a shoulder-height wall outside the UC. The construction of the wall was part of the Writing on the Wall Project, which is a key component of Diversity Week at UTM.

Sunday, students wrote racial slurs and symbols that represent hatred in paint on the wall. The wall is to be torn down on Thursday as a symbol of seeking social change and eradicating hatred. Tearing down the ten-foot high wall represents tearing down the walls that separate humans, according to organizers.
The project generated powerful emotions which, one would suppose, was the point of the project.
Not exactly the kind of project that comes to mind when you think of "Fraternity Service Project". Very interesting.
