Greeks to Host Dodgeball Tourney

Another Fund Raiser Idea. Sig Eps at MT Alpha are trying to outdo Syracuse and Oklahoma.
In an effort to raise money for charity, two University of Montana Greek houses will be bringing an old playground favorite to the University grounds.

Starting at noon on Saturday, Kappa Alpha Theta and Sigma Phi Epsilon will be hosting a dodgeball tournament at the Schreiber Gym. Pat Gruhler, Sigma Phi Epsilon’s vice president of programming, said the two houses decided to put on a dodgeball tournament due in part to the recent movie of the same name and the success of other dodgeball tournaments around the country.

“The movie had something to do with it,” Gruhler said. “Also we heard the University of Syracuse’s Sig Eps raised almost $10,000 this last year (and) they’ve had dodgeball tournaments for the last six years. The University of Oklahoma’s just raised $1,400, so we figured if all the other campus’ Sig Eps are doing it, we could try it out here.” Gruhler also noted that the dodgeball tournament that was put on by the Campus Recreation department in February was a success, so he said he knows there is some local interest in the sport.
