UNH student gives up Greek system top honor. Relinquishes award after being arrested

This is NOT another post about John Ward - the Sig Ep "Junior Greek Man of the Year".

This one is about John Condosta, the "SENIOR Greek Man of the Year".

The University of New Hampshire's Greek Man of the Year returned his award yesterday because of a recent arrest following an alleged drunken altercation with police.

Senior John Condosta, 22, met with UNH officials and gave the award back after being honored as the top male fraternity senior on Friday.

Condosta, of Cheshire, Conn., is the second UNH fraternity member to return a Greek award this year because of a recent arrest. Junior and state Rep. John Ward, R-Littleton, also returned his Greek Junior Male of the Year award Monday after he was arrested for allegedly buying beer for an underage female student last week.

Condosta, a member of the Sigma Beta fraternity, thought about the situation all weekend and told university officials he felt horrible, Chesney said.

Police arrested Condosta, of Cheshire, Conn., in the early morning hours of April 13 after he allegedly attempted to buy alcohol from a convenience store while "very intoxicated," police said.

Condosta began yelling at the clerk in a "loud and threatening manner" and "struggled violently" as police tried to arrest him, said Deputy Chief Rene Kelley of the Durham Police Department.

Ward gave up his award Monday. The Greek system will not give the awards to anyone else in place of Condosta and Ward, Chesney said.

With winners like these two you have to wonder what the also-rans are like. Scary.
