The 32nd annual Roman Feast & Charity Auction held Thursday for Youth Employment Service of the Harbor Area detoured just a bit from its traditional Italian menu. Lou Manginelli of Culinary Adventures slipped a French breast of chicken Provencal into the mix along with the traditional pasta, and no one was the wiser.
As usual, generous area restaurants donated hors d'oeuvres and dinner for the event held in the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center. Students from the UC Irvine's Sigma Chi Epsilon fraternity and Orange Coast College's Airline Travel Careers Program served 325 guests.
The warm-hearted affair was emceed by city managers Allan Roeder of Costa Mesa and Homer Bludau of Newport Beach. Darvy Traylor provided entertainment.
I suspect she meant these guys. Sigma Chi Epsilon is a local fraternity at York College in Pennsylvania. (Note to self: work on improving penmanship, especially when writing to airhead blond gossip columnists.)
Auction is worthy of a Roman feast(reg reqd)
