"Now I get to be like everybody else"

Andrew Goldstein
Andrew Goldstein has become the new face of the reclusive gay athlete.

This ESPN story highlights how far Sig Ep has come in our acceptance and non-discrimination polices. We not only have the policy, we live it in our chapters.

Andrew Goldstein - an all-american lacrosse goalie and a Sig Ep - is a great example of courage.

"I'm a liberal person, and I try not to assume things about people," said Sean Garren, a fellow fraternity brother of Goldstein's in Sigma Phi Epsilon and also a member of the Gay Straight Alliance. "But the lacrosse team was not where I imagined there being an All-American gay person. I think that there are so many stereotypes that a lot of gay people all over the country kind of live up to. A lot of stereotypes that have just been built up over time, and Andrew breaks a lot of those."

ESPN will air this story on Sunday.

Andrew Goldstein spent a number of days working with the ESPN crew that produced the exclusive story of his coming out. It is scheduled to appear on Sunday's SportsCenter (11 p.m., EST).
