A Sunday extra - Big gifts to schools require more than money

An article in the Des Moines Register about fund raising for colleges focuses on the need to develop a realationship with donors over time. These points should be considered when your chapter or alumni association is making plans for the next major fund drive.

Almost as an aside, note how one person got his start in the area of university 'development'

"Philanthropy is personal," said Bundy, who said he got into university fundraising accidentally after being chairman of philanthropy for his fraternity at Penn State. "People give to what they feel passionately about."
