Second UGA Sig Ep Dies in Iraq

Noah Harris, a 2003 graduate of the University of Georgia and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, died Friday from wounds suffered in Iraq.
Harris, of Ellijay, joined the Army after graduating with a bachelor's degree from UGA's Terry College of Business. He was serving as platoon leader.

"Noah once told my wife and I that he could not sit on the sidelines while others defended our country," said Bob Hadden of Ellijay, a friend of the Harris family.

Although Army officials could not be reached Sunday to comment on the incident, Hadden said Harris was critically wounded when the Humvee he was riding in came under fire. Two other soldiers with Harris died at the scene, Hadden said, and Harris died after being transferred to a field hospital.

Harris was an alumni member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Bradley Arms, a University of Georgia student and U.S. Marine who died in Fallujah, Iraq in November of 2004, was also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Harris family and to the GA Delta members.
