Student sues U-M fraternity

He claims members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon punched, kicked him and used racial slurs.

The lawsuit, filed earlier this month against Sigma Alpha Epsilon, alleges that student Calvin Kattola suffered cuts and bruises in the attack in February 2004.

Kattola claims nine members of SAE showed up as he waited to enter another fraternity house. As they tried to kick down the other fraternity's door, Kattola told them to stop but they tossed him from the porch and then punched and kicked him while he lay on the ground, the suit alleges. During the attack, they made derogatory remarks about his Middle Eastern heritage, according to the lawsuit.
