Paul Ransom, former Ionia resident, got lucky with the Super Bowl coming to Detroit since he just happens to work as a vending manager at Ford Field.
Although scholars debate the actual economic impact of such events on host cities, no one would deny that a packed stadium is good business for stadium vendors, and Ransom said his Jet Services vendors are estimated to sell $50,000 worth of merchandise Sunday.
Ransom said he got involved as a vendor through his fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he is going to school.
“It started out as a fundraiser - all the commission went to the fraternity,” he said, adding that the fraternity has generated almost $40,000 in the last four years through the program.

Ransom said he will have five of his fraternity brothers who will work under him Sunday, which is nice because the vendors selected for the Bowl consist of Jet Services top vendors from about five NFL stadiums.
“They all passed the background test,” Ransom said of his fraternal pals. “There's not really a shortage of people who want to come over (for the event) and work.”
They passed, but they studied all week for it. heh.
