We've got (yawn) Spirit!

That perennial basketball powerhouse (heh) Columbia is having a down year - one of several in a series. They are having trouble getting folks to show up for the games.
In addition to naming the student section in Levien Gym “The Lions’ Den” and holding free giveaways of items like t-shirts and towels for new members, the students and administration are attempting to cultivate a social atmosphere by sponsoring pre-game tailgates and parties. The first one was held before the Harvard game on Feb. 3. Impressively, close to four hundred students showed up for this kickoff event. The Lions’ Den is also trying to create incentives for attending games. For the Dartmouth game, the Lions’ Den held Greek Night, in which the Greek organization with the most members in attendance won a prize. The brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon took home the prize that night for showing the most support
Yeesh. From The Strawberry Statement to stadium stuffing. What a comedown for great students of a great school.
