From 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17 until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21, fraternity members took turns braving the elements and eating and sleeping in tents on the Student Union lawn to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.Insert your double entendré of choice here.
"It's something we look forward to every year," said sophomore Sigma Phi Epsilon member Matt O'Connor. "We get to hang out on campus all day, and it's a great way for the pledge classes to bond."

"This is hands-down our most successful event," said Sean Musselman, a UMass and Sigma Phi Epsilon alumnus who graduated in December. But, he added, "The weather has almost been too nice. People are usually a lot more sympathetic when it's colder."
Fraternity members, who met their goal of $2,000, say they are setting a philanthropic trend.
"Other Greek houses are now interested in doing week-long events," said O'Connor.

And it turns out that life away from the dorms wasn't so bad for the members of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
"People came and gave us food," said O'Connor. "Sorority girls brought us cookies."
He added with a smile, "We're not exactly roughing it."
