Sig Ep Soldier Welcomed Home

The streets were lined with friends and flags Friday afternoon, as crowds waved home a small-town hero returning from service in Iraq.

More than 300 residents gathered around an emotional Spc. Erick Lund at Zollinger Park to welcome the Providence native -- wounded in a northeast city of Iraq last July -- back to the bedroom community.

"As a soldier, there are a lot of things that make you want to cry," Lund said. "Sometimes it's just coming home to this."
