Our favorite former Chapter president, State Representative, and corrupter of young girls is back in the dock. Given his pedigree, you have to wonder if there is "more than meets the eye" as they say in the South.
A third-generation state lawmaker who is also a University of New Hampshire student is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow on a charge that he bought beer last semester for an underage female student.
State Rep. John L. Ward, 21, was charged April 22 with prohibited sales after he allegedly bought beer for Margaret Calvert of Newbury, who was 20 at the time.

Ward, a Republican who represents Littleton and Lyman, waived an arraignment May 19 and pleaded innocent to the class A misdemeanor. He could face up to a year in jail and a $1,200 fine if convicted.
Ward is represented by his attorney and father, Brien Ward, who practices in Littleton.
Brien Ward represented Littleton four years in the Legislature. His mother  John Ward's grandmother, Kathleen Ward  served 20 years as a Littleton representative.

After the arrest became public, John Ward returned an award for the top UNH Greek system junior. He also ran an unsuccessful write-in campaign for UNH student body president last semester. He is a member and past president of UNH fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon.
